Textiles Fabricato Tejicondor SA (FABRI) , Colombia’s biggest textile maker, rose as Colombia nears a free trade agreement with the U.S. and as Venezuela moves forward with payment of overdue debts to Colombian exporters, said Carlos Esteban Santiago, analyst at Alianza Valores SA.
The stock gained 3.2 percent to 45.40 pesos in Bogota trading at 4 p.m. New York time, the highest closing price since September 2007.
Ecopetrol SA (ECOPETL) , Colombia’s state-run oil company, rose 1.1 percent to 3,840 pesos. Colombia said today the nation’s oil production climbed to 903,000 barrels per day in April, a monthly record.
Ecopetrol accounted for 89 percent of the production, according to data on the website of the state-run National Hydrocarbons Agency.
Grupo Aval Acciones y Valores (AVAL) SA, Colombia’s biggest financial holding company, fell 0.4 percent to 1,345 pesos as investors awaited delayed results of the company’s share issue, said Mauricio Restrepo Del Toro, research director at brokerage Bolsa y Renta.
