Metricom helps two Colombian carriers upgrade legacy infrastructure with TelcoBridges’ media gateways.
TelcoBridges today announced that it is expanding operations in South America through a new partnership with leading Colombian telecommunications reseller Metricom.
TelcoBridges and Metricom also announced the first Tmedia 3200 deployment and 1+1 solution support agreement in Colombia with two of Latin America’s most prominent carriers.
Metricom is a leading supplier of telecommunications equipment and services for fixed and wireless carriers, ISPs, universities and enterprise customers throughout Colombia.
The company specializes in supplying equipment for fiber optic networks, mobile and satellite communications as well as data and signaling technologies.
Acting as TelcoBridges’ reseller in Colombia, Metricom recently helped two of Latin America’s most prominent carriers upgrade their networks with TelcoBridges’ media gateways.
When a prominent Mexican carrier sought to expand into Colombia, they obtained a series of E1s from Colombia’s leading carrier. In order to provide voice services to customers in rural and municipal areas, they needed to convert older voice protocols such as R2 into VoIP.
To do so, they obtained TelcoBridges’ TMG3200 media gateways from Metricom.
“We were able to help these carriers build out their network and service new municipalities in a straightforward manner using TelcoBridges’ Tmedia gateways,” said Juan Daniel Jimenez, Project Manager of Metricom.
“Tmedia addressed the legacy protocols more effectively than a competitive gateway we evaluated for this installation. Our efforts with this project demonstrate the value of TelcoBridges’ technology and we’re looking forward to additional Tmedia deployments in the future.”
“Earlier this year, TelcoBridges announced new deployments in Russia, Eastern Europe and the Middle East, and today we’re pleased to announce our expansion into South America through our partnership with Metricom,” said Gaetan Campeau, Ceo of TelcoBridges.
“Our gateways provide enormous flexibility when it comes to converting legacy protocols to VoIP, and they also deliver the reliability that large carriers depend upon.”
