Colombia is interested in studying Azerbaijani experience in oil and gas sector

Minister of Industry and Energy Natig Aliyev received a delegation of senators of Colombia, headed by chairman of the second constitutional committee of the Senate, Alexandra Moreno Pirakive on Tuesday.

During the meeting the sides discussed prospects of cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the petroleum sector, Ministry of Industry and Energy told Trend.

Daily volume of oil production in Colombia is at the level of one million barrels per day, which is the same as in Azerbaijan.

However, the country's population amounted to 47 million people and oil production isn't enough to meet the needs of the country, Pirakive said during a meeting.

Azerbaijani population exceeds 9.2 million.

She said Azerbaijan has extensive experience and modern technologies in the field of oil and gas production and development of hydrocarbon deposits and, therefore, Colombia is interested in studying the experience of the country.

During the meeting, Natig Aliyev told the guests about the achievements of Azerbaijan in all sectors of the economy, particularly in the petroleum sector.

During the meeting, the Colombian side invited Natig Aliyev to take part in a major gas forum to be held in Columbia at the end of this year, spokesman for Ministry of Industry Azer Mensimli told Trend.
