South America has been called “the bird continent” for the enormous number of bird species that call it home. Colombia, a country in the continent’s northwest corner, is home to more than 1,875 species.
You can learn about some of those Colombian species at Salem Audubon Society’s Birder’s Night on Tuesday at Willamette University.
Bill Castillo, a retired state Department of Fish and Wildlife biologist, will be the featured speaker at the event, which will begin at 6:30 p.m. in Willamette’s Hatfield Library.
Castillo, his wife and four Salem Audubon members went on a birding adventure in Colombia last year.
Preceding Castillo’s talk, audience members can share information about their recent bird sightings.
