The IGBC Index (IGBC) rose 0.6 percent to 12,735.77, while the Colcap Index rose 0.4 percent to 1,577.71. Colombian markets were closed Dec. 30 for the year-end holiday.
Empresa de Telecomunicaciones de Bogotá S.A. (ETB) , the phone company serving Colombia’s capital, fell 0.4 percent to 475 pesos. ETB, as the company is known, called for an extraordinary shareholder’s meeting Jan. 11, according to a filing on the regulator’s website.
Colombian banks saw profit rise 20 percent in the first eleven months of the year to 4.12 trillion pesos ($2.1 billion) from 3.43 trillion pesos a year earlier, according to data released Dec. 29 by the financial regulator.
Banco de Bogotá S.A. , the nation’s second-biggest lender, jumped 1.8 percent to 49,900 pesos.
