Colombian utility firm Empresa de Energia de Bogotá (EEB.BO) sold COP772 billion ($409 million) in a secondary share placement, with demand for the stock issue reaching COP916.7 billion, the local bourse said in a statement.
The amount sold is higher than the COP700 billion that the company initially offered.
EEB's is the latest secondary share placement in the Bogotá bourse this year.
Grupo de Inversiones Suramericana SA (GIVSY, GRUPOSURA.BO) is also carrying out a share placement for $2.1 billion to pay for its $3.7 billion acquisition of the Latin American pension unit of ING Groep NV (ING, INGA.AE).
Davivienda (PFDAVVNDA.BO), Colombia's third largest bank, is also carrying out a secondary share placement which could reach $420 million.
EEB controls several energy utility firms in Colombia and is also moving to expand its operations abroad.
The firm already has plans to enter Peru. and Guatemala, and is also considering a natural gas transportation business in Chile.
The company's expansion projects calls for $956 million in new spending starting in 2.012.
EEB's shares were up 0.39% to COP1,300 Wednesday while the benchmark COLCAP index rose 0.26% to 1597.17 points.
