Colombia seeks to boost tourism through providing an impressive culinary experience to foreign tourists, top tourist official said Friday.
A wide variety of cuisine in the country should attract thousands of tourists, said Tourism Minister Sergio Diaz-Granados, prior to a forum on Colombian cuisine and tourism in Bogota.
The forum, to be held next Wednesday and Thursday, would bring together some 300 attendees to explore ways of boosting tourism through cuisine.
"The research, business support, competitiveness and promotion should be the pillars of supporting this great task of marketing the Colombian food as bait for tourism," Diaz-Granados said.
The first step was to launch a study whose results would be discussed at the forum, the minister said.
