Lagos said Colombia will be more prosperous and will have a stronger leadership

Former Chilean President Ricardo Lagos predicted today that Colombia, under the leadership of its new president, Juan Manuel Santos, will have more prosperity and leadership in South America.

I think this stage that starts Colombia will be a time of successes and also, why not say, leadership within the South American nations, Lagos said after meeting with Santos at Casa de Nariño, Bogotá headquarters of the Executive.

For Lagos "now there is a turning point and many eyes are turning to what this country is doing, under the leadership of President Santos, who took office on 7 August.

Also recognized that Colombia is experiencing a "moment of economic growth."

Moreover, Lagos told reporters that in his meeting with Colombian President addressed issues of infrastructure and climate change, among others.

Also discussed "the possibility of opening the doors of the Colombian economy to foreign investors."

Lagos, who was president of Chile between 2000 and 2006, is visiting Colombia, where he was one of the main speakers of the forum Sustainable development and climate change.
