Colombian Stocks : Almacenes Exito, Canacol, Fabricato

The following companies are having unusual price changes in Bogotá trading. 

Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of 11:06 a.m. New York time.

The IGBC Index rose 0.8 percent to 13,524.25, while the Colcap Index rose 0.6 percent to 1,652.34.

Almacenes Exito SA (EXITO) , Colombia’s biggest retailer, fell 2 percent to 23,000 pesos.

The company said yesterday it will offer shares in the local market at an 8.1 percent discount from the Aug. 30 closing price.

The Medellin based company will offer to sell 114.27 million shares at 21,900 pesos each, it said in a regulatory filing yesterday.

Canacol Energy Ltd. (CNEC) , the Toronto based oil company with fields in Colombia, rose 2.2 percent to 1,645 pesos.

Canacol said it was awarded a contract from Ecopetrol SA, Colombia’s biggest oil company, to buy gas and gas liquids from the Rancho Hermoso field in the Llanos basin, according to a regulatory filing today.

Fabricato SA (FABRI CB), Colombia’s biggest textile maker, rose 0.7 percent to 73.5 pesos.

The company said it has paid off all but 3.3 billion pesos ($1.9 million), or 1 percent of its total debt when it began restructuring under the country’s bankruptcy law in 2000, according to a regulatory filing yesterday.
