Chile Pharmaceutical Company CFR Makes $562M Buy in Colombia

Chilean generic-drug manufacturer CFR Pharmaceuticals SA (CFR.SN) has acquired Laboratorio Franco Colombiano Lafrancol SAS for $562 million, the company said saturday in a regulatory filing.

The acquisition of Colombia's largest drug manufacturer by sales adds to CFR's purchases of stakes in Canadian and Vietnam companies last year.

CFR will finance the most recent purchase with its own resources and proceeds from a capital increase, the company said.

The deal is subject to Colombian regulatory approval.

Headquartered in Santiago, CFR sells prescription drugs and has factories in Chile, Colombia, Argentina and Perú.
