Colombian President to Assess Security before Liberations

Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos will chair a council on security in Villacencio, the capital of the department of Mesta, a few days before the guerrilla releases ten kidnapped officers.

According to information, Santos will assess the public order situation in the region before a possible deployment of troops for the release of the prisoners by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (Farc).

Villacencio will be the operation center for the liberations, which will be divided into two stages, as it was agreed upon.

Logistics for the operation were defined on Sunday after the Government received the new proposed dates for the release of the officers.

The prisoners will be freed from April 2 to 4, dates analyzed and accepted during a meeting of the two parties in charge of coordinating the operation.
