Colombia secure third Conmebol ticket

Colombia comfortably beat Argentina 4-0 to secure Conmebol’s third and final berth for the Fifa U-17 Women’s World Cup to be held in Azerbaijan between 22 September and 13 October. 

Brazil and Uruguay had secured qualification in the penultimate round of matches, with the former winning the tournament played in Bolivia, thanks to a 1-0 final day victory. 

Colombia has participated once previously at New Zealand 2008 suffering a first round elimination. 

The Cafeteras have made a major impression in recent years reaching the semi-finals of the 2.010 Fifa U-20 Women’s World Cup and qualifying for the 2.011 Fifa Women’s World Cup™. 

Colombia's goals in the match in Sucre, were scored by Gabriela Maldonado (2) Dayana Castillo and Laura Aguirre. 

In the decisive match, played in the same city, Brazil defeated Uruguay 1-0 with the lone goal coming on 11 minutes from Andrea Cavalari.
