Colombian Stock Movers : Ecopetrol, Enka, Petrominerales Decline

The following companies had unusual price changes in Bogotá trading. 

Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of 4 p.m. local time.

The IGBC Index (IGBC) fell 1 percent to 12,667.06, while the Colcap Index declined 0.5 percent to 1,592.11.

Ecopetrol SA (ECOPETL) , Colombia’s largest oil company, fell 1.4 percent to 4,225 pesos. 

Heavy rains displaced soil around the Salgar-Cartago pipeline, operated by Ecopetrol, causing it to leak and the fuel to explode, killing 11 people and injuring 99 in central Colombia on Dec. 23, the company said in a statement that day after markets closed. 

Ecopetrol said in the statement it will “aid the families that were affected by this occurrence until they can move on from this emergency.”

Colombia’s stock exchange on Dec. 23 published the preliminary basket of 20 companies that will make up the Colcap Index from Jan. 1 to March 31. 

Enka de Colombia SA (ENKA) was excluded from the list while Petrominerales Ltd. (PMG) was added.

Enka de Colombia SA (ENKA CB), a Medellin-based synthetic fibers producer, fell 1.1 percent to 9 pesos.

Petrominerales Ltd. (PMGC CB), a Calgary-based company that explores for and produces oil in Colombia, fell 2.5 percent to 31,300 pesos.
