Colombia Stocks : Biomax, Fabricato, Bancolombia, Banco de Bogota

The following companies are having unusual price changes in Bogota trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of 11:27 a.m. New York time.

The IGBC Index fell 0.1 percent to 14,535.31, while the Colcap Index declined 0.2 percent to 1,757.74.

Biomax Biocombustibles SA (BIOMAX) , the Bogota-based fuel distributor, rose 1.7 percent to 1,750 pesos.

Company President Ramiro Sanchez said it will become the country’s third-biggest fuel distributor with 14 percent of market share when it buys shares in Brio de Colombia next week, according to an interview in Portafolio yesterday.

Fabricato SA (FABRI CB), Colombia’s biggest textile maker, rose 3.4 percent to 60.5 pesos after U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said yesterday she was confident that Congress would approve a free-trade accord between the U.S. and Colombia.

Colombian banks rose after Moody’s Investors Service upgraded foreign currency ratings of Bancolombia SA (BCOLO) and Banco de Bogota SA (BOGOTA) yesterday to Baa3 from Ba2.

Bancolombia, Colombia’s biggest bank, rose 0.7 percent to 29,300 pesos.

Banco de Bogota, Colombia’s second-biggest lender, rose 1.3 percent to 52,980 pesos.
