Former Colombian senator will go to Brazil to complete release of FARC hostages

Former Colombian Senator Piedad Córdoba travels to Brazil on Monday to review the helicopters that will pick up five hostages, the FARC Marxist guerrillas promised to release this week in Colombia, saying she was "certain" that this year will be released all the hostages.
"I'm sure that before mid-year we will have delivered to the whole world and will begin a process that has to be the possibility of negotiating peace in this country," said Cordoba, to a mediator in the case, after a meeting on Sunday in Bogotá with the families of the five hostages.
"I see that this process is creating conditions and desire for peace, I think the president (Colombia) Juan Manuel Santos is open to progress," she said.
Cordoba was dismissed from his position as senator by Congress in November after it was sanctioned by the Agency, he considered that she had ties to FARC.
Anncol agency, which usually broadcasts information FARC, Santos called on Sunday to "seize" the moment of release to undertake "a dialogue to a political solution."
The order comes two days after the president reiterated his offer to FARC to seek a negotiated end to the war in half a century in Colombia.
