The production period was higher at 14 percent to 2009, when it reached 7.81 million bags, said the National Federation of Coffee Growers (FNC) after highlighting the harvest showed a strong recovery in the last month of the year past.
The FNC said in a statement that farmers gathered last December 1.16 million bags, up 42 percent over the same period in 2009, when harvested 821,000 bags.

However, he urged farmers to "take advantage of different programs that the Federation has been designed to renew and their crop varieties with high productivity and resistance to rust, and eliminate once and for all disease in the country ".
The general manager of the FNC mentioned the risk of spread of rust fungus as a result of the sharp increase in rainfall that occurred in Colombia during the second half of 2010.
According to the statement, rainfall reached "unprecedented scale in recent decades", which "adversely affect coffee production in 2011, among other factors because high humidity levels reduce the blooms, and facilitate the development trees and spread of rust fungus. "
The FNC also recognized that coffee exports in 2010 were lower by 1 per cent on 2009.
Last year were exported 7.81 million bags, against 7.89 million bags in 2009, according to the source, who did not provide the amount of foreign exchange earned the country foreign shipments.
As production, exports also showed a positive change of 40 percent in December 2010 compared to the same month in 2009.
The FNC said that last month China exported 1.10 million bags, against 788,000 in December 2009.
In all cases, the bags are sixty kilos of grain.
